Over the years, we’ve had an amazing range of custom Defenders delivered from the Rover Dome. Some more along the lines of custom luxury SUV, some built to remain true to the heritage of the Defender. If you’re collecting ideas for your custom Summer Defender build, here are our top restored custom Defenders that are PERFECT for summer 2020.
Project Stirling | Soft Top Defender 90
Let’s start with the ideal summer vehicle, something that lets wind flow through your hair, a convertible. Project Stirling is a Dark Ceramic Grey soft top D90 with a 2” lift kit that’s perfect for riding over the hills of sandy beaches. The build’s wide-body Kahn kit and Sawtooth wheels add a sense of street power to the build, perfect for city cruising with the canvas top pulled off. Throw your fishing or surf gear in back, and head out with the family to spend the perfect day under the sun.

Project Rowdy | Defender 110
Delivered in April 2020, Project Rowdy is a custom Defender 110 built for particular summer activities. Its custom ski-rack in the back is perfect for a summer on the slopes, and its lux interior is ideal for relaxing long summer drives. It’s most popular feature is the custom Thewlis Gregson cabinet in the rear custom-built to hold both a shot-gun and everything from wine glasses to silverware for the ideal picnic. The rear also has a fish cleaning station and Tupperware compartments for on-the-go picnic planning, making it the perfect build for an activity-filled summer day.

Project Invictus | Defender 110
The beauty of this custom Defender 110 is the custom Cascadia Vehicle Tents (CVT) Mt. Shasta Summit tent built onto the build’s top. This Defender is a go-anywhere build that is perfect for summers spent hiking or on the trails. The spacious tent that sleeps two also has an awning that works perfectly beside campfires, and inside is a range of gear that is ideal in case your camping plans go amiss. A custom Midland CB Radio and a Wilson 880 Series antenna make communications in the middle of nowhere possible if necessary, and a portable solar power unit keeps everything running for back-ups.

If heritage is more your style; you may be interested in Project Tuki which is more of a nostalgic heritage style build; Project Family Vacation which is a rugged safari styled build perfect for family vacations; or Project Alpine Yeti, and overhauled NAS Defender 110 with a snorkel perfect for thrashing through deep waters.
If you’re looking for a fun drive, we’d recommend looking at Project Dante, a brightly colored Latte Menta D90 that turns heads and invokes sunny vibes, or Project Viper, which was build to run through the mud and hills of Costa Rica.
