So you’re a long-standing Land Rover Defender enthusiast, waiting for the day when you can own one of the few rare and precious classics that are still available in the US today. You finally have reserved yourself to either trying to restore the vehicle yourself or hunting around for a restoration shop that can handle some of the significant work that not even YouTube can help guide you through. Unless you’re a Land Rover Defender mechanic with years of experience in the vehicle, we here to dissuade you from trying to self-restore your classic Defender.
As a custom restoration shop, we can tell you now that your journey towards rebuilding your custom Defender would abruptly start at just trying to find the proper parts you need. While the internet provides several avenues for finding parts, sourcing them is a whole other ball game in itself. We don’t recommend it. We have an entire team dedicated to working with top brands that make and sell quality parts for the Land Rover Defender. Some of them take months to get in from order; some of them are extremely rare and cannot be easily found, so we don’t typically recommend self-restoration if you don’t already have a supplier.
The Land Rover Defender is a vehicle that has been around, albeit rarely, for almost 30 years now. The vehicle is much like a rare instrument in that it needs to be carefully studied and practiced for years to understand its inner workings and needed repairs. Things like engine or transmission swaps, upgrading wire harnesses, or even upgrading the stereo are something that just anyone could do. Even some vintage vehicle restoration shops find upgrading certain parts of vehicles like the Defender difficult. We pride ourselves on having years of experience, certifications, and expertise in carefully tearing down and rebuilding these vehicles from the ground up. We didn’t get the expertise overnight but over years of learning and meticulous engineering.
At the end of the day, a simple self-restoration couldn’t even compare to a fully handcrafted and rebuilt custom Land Rover Defender with a warranty and the ability to be easily serviced at a modern shop (such as our line of GM Defenders). There’s a certain comfort and peace of mind in letting your build come through the Rover Dome with its certified techs, years of experience, state of the art paint facility, and unlimited build options to choose from. With over 250 vehicles under our belts, it’s safe to say that, even compared to other restoration shops, our ability to focus and master Land Rover vehicles means your vehicle will be your perfect Defender build.
