With the release of the new Defender, it’s important to mention that with the new Defender models hold true to the brand’s original D90 and D110 wheelbase options; this is where the newer vehicles’ model options stop (for now, speculation has it a new Defender 130 is coming to the market). So if you’re interested in a wholly nostalgic or traditional Defender layout (like the NAS Defender), an ECD build might be the better option. Since every Defender model at ECD is fully customizable, here’s a breakdown of all the Defender models and configurations you can get here at ECD.
The original Defender 90 is known for its smaller stature and agility. An off-road vehicle that goes the distance while remaining small enough to do awesome summer activities like beach cruising or mudding. With the ability to seat a maximum of 6 passengers (2 front, four rear jump seats), the smaller 4×4 has more seating than most two-door SUVs today. With the swing away rear door option, making entry and stowing in the rear easy.
With ECD being a custom builder, you can even configure your D90 into a pickup option with two seats up front and an empty rear bed. You also can go with a soft-top convertible model, perfect for surfboards or warm weather drives, or the hardtop option, ideal for wooded areas and snow.
The Defender 110 is a true beast with the broadest range of configurations. Seating a maximum of 10 passengers (2 front seats and four rear bench seats), the D110 is perfect for those with families or plenty to tow. The four-door (technically 5 with the rear swing door) allows for more spacious seating while providing the size and strength to withstand the toughest of terrains.
If you prefer wagon style, you can opt for two front doors and the rear swing away door only for the D110 station wagon model. You can also opt to have your D110 turned into a four-door crew cab with four seats and a short empty rear bed. Like with the D90, the D110 has the option of having a full soft-top or a hardtop, and with its setup, you can also have a hardtop with a removable soft top over your rear bed.
With the Defender 110, you get all of the seating and configurations within the manageable size of the 110 wheelbases, making it the most versatile of the Defender models.
The Defender 130 is the largest and rarest of the original Defender models. Due to its size, the main configuration for a D130 is as a crew cab pickup with seating for 4. This vehicle is a beast at handling off-road terrains such as sand dunes, mud, and dusty backroads. Its stature makes it a bit more challenging to fit in heavily covered areas but perfect if you have family and also need storage for camping or off-roading gear.
Like with the D110, the Defender 130 can have a hardtop over the front four passengers and a convertible soft top that covers the bed in the rear. The D130 is also another Defender model that has four doors with a rear swing or drop door option.
ECD offers a range of powerful new V8, Diesel, and even Electric drivetrain options, regardless of which Defender model you choose. If you want to stick to traditional means, a fan favorite is the Diesel option with a manual transmission. If you like the growl but prefer a seamless driving option, our range of V8 engines with an automatic transmission provide a nod to heritage with driving ease.
