ECD prides itself on producing some of the highest-quality Land Rover restorations in the world. ECD applies the same expertise and knowledge in restoring their Range Rover Classic vehicles as they do with their custom Land Rover Defenders. But with their history, how durable can an old Range Rover Classic be?
In the process of creating a customized Range Rover Classic, ECD ensures the vehicle’s reliability by rebuilding it from the ground up. ECD tears the vehicle down to its chassis, removing parts that are not needed or no longer functional for the new life of the vehicle. While the vehicle’s body panels are sent off to be repaired and repainted, another portion of ECD’s team works on restoring the vehicle’s chassis to a state that should last another lifetime. The chassis is then wired with all new and updated wiring, ensuring it works well in modern times. ECD offers a range of modern engine options for its restored vehicles, which include newer V8s such as the Chevy LS3, LT1, and LT4 and the even more ultramodern Tesla Direct Drive electric motor. With a new engine installed, the life and durability of the vehicle are increased immensely, making them perfect for being daily drivers. In addition to an all-new engine, the classic SUVs receive a fully upgraded and modernized interior. ECD uses hand-selected design options to wrap the vehicle’s interior in hand-picked leather and materials, from suede headliners to durable carpet. The vehicle’s infotainment system also sees a new upgrade with newer gauges, a modern entertainment system, and all new power functions, from powered locks to powered windows. ECD also offers additional features such as backup cameras, remote start, heated seating, and wireless charging. These newly wired upgrades are easily maintained and drastically extend the vehicle’s life. Externally, the vehicle’s body panels receive repairs to ensure the vehicle will have no body rust or leaks. The new paint is professionally sprayed in a state-of-the-art facility on-site, making the vehicle look as if it is fresh off the production line. Along with a new paint job, the RRC receives all new LED lighting, windows, wheels, and tires based on the client’s customizations.
As a final measure for the newly restored and rebuilt customized Range Rover Classic, ECD puts the vehicle through its rigorous quality control checks. These checks happen at every new bay/stage of the build process and end with a massive 200+ point inspection once the vehicle is “complete.” If the vehicle needs additional adjustments, these are made, and the quality control inspection is done again. Upon completion of the QC inspection, the vehicle is then test-driven for up to 700 miles by the ECD team to ensure it is functioning properly and meets the ECD quality standards. The test drive involves putting the vehicle through normal daily use, such as highway driving and city traffic. Finally, the RRC is ready for delivery to its new home.
