From Ferraris and Porsches to classic American muscle cars, electric conversions have become the new frontier in customization. Now Florida-based ECD Automotive Design is bringing EV tech to another classic — the Land Rover Defender. ECD offers Land Rover conversions using the popular LS and Rover V8s, but their latest creation uses a 100 kWh Tesla Direct Drive electric drivetrain. ECD estimates a five-hour charge time on a three-phase circuit and 220 miles of range, along with a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds. Add to that the instant torque delivery, and you get all the performance of a V8 without any of the drawbacks. ECD's system has been engineered to retain all of the offroad capability that makes the Defender a legend, along with the nearly endless interior and exterior customization options the company offers.
