The Jaguar E-Type Drivetrain Production Bay at ECD Auto Design is the intersection of precision and passion. When the soul is returned to the iconic Jaguar E-Type, it is this meticulous process, divided into eight key stages, that brings these legendary cars back to life. But that's not the whole story — over the top of these steps, there were a hand-full of other equally important tasks making sure that every E-Type departing our factory was an engineering and design masterpiece — where both halves strike the perfect balance.

CR Holly, our South Line Supervisor in charge of the Drivetrain Bay, brings a wealth of experience and passion to ECD Auto Design. Having customized cars since he was 16 years old, CR's first professional customization was a 1959 Mercedes 220 Coupe, a project that ignited his lifelong passion for automotive customization. CR thrives on the challenges each new project presents and has been a cornerstone of our team since the first one-of-one ECD Jaguar E-Type rolled off the line.

"Customization is an art form," says CR. "Each car is a unique canvas, and I love the challenge of making every detail perfect. At ECD, we don't just build cars; we create one-of-one dreams on wheels."

Although there are several steps within steps, the drivetrain installation can be broken down into 8 key steps:

Step 1: Uncrate Engine

The journey begins with uncrating the engine, where we carefully remove the engine from its shipping crate, readying it for installation. We offer a menu of engine options including the powerful GM LT1, LS3, a second-generation EV option with fast charging, and the classic V12.

Step 2: Uncrate Transmission

Next, we uncrate the transmission, ensuring all components are intact and prepared for integration. Our customers can choose from a 6-speed manual, 8-speed automatic, or a 3-speed automatic transmission to match their driving preferences.

Step 3: Construct Motor Mounts

Our highly trained technicians will then custom produce engine motor mounts for each vehicle, assuring a perfect fit for the engine and transmission.

Step 4: Motor Drop

The engine is now dropped into place onto the new custom-made motor mounts. It is securely fastened to the chassis.

STEP 5: Header: Created by Hand and Installed

Handmade headers are tailored to fit each customer's E-Type, serving up the best performance and a bit of custom flair.

Step 6: Install Exhaust

The whole exhaust system is installed, with painstaking attention to fit for both enhanced performance and sound.

Step 7: Install Fuel System

After that, we will be installing the fuel system required to get the engine fed a good supply of fuel, reliably and efficiently.

Step 8: Install the Cooling System

The final major step is the installation of the cooling system, an important part of ensuring the engine keeps delivering good performance without interruption.

Additional Bay Activities

Although these eight steps are the heart of the drivetrain installation, this production bay buzzes with other activity. At the same time, many other equally critical processes ensure that each Jaguar E-Type is flawlessly assembled both inside and out.

Cosmetics Installation

Our team works on all cosmetic installations, these are the final touches that make each E-Type beautiful to look at.

Hood Installation

The hood fits the body tightly and is carefully aligned with the rest of the body panels.

Trunk Installation

At the same time, the trunk is installed with care, ensuring form and function.

Seats Installation

Seats are customized with the highest-grade material and custom stitching from the upholstery department and then moved to this bay. Inside the cabin, seats are installed, blending comfort with the classic style of the E-Type.

Dash Installation

The dashboard is carefully installed, combining highest-grade materials, modern functionality with timeless design.

Windshield Installation

The windshield is fitted, providing both safety and a clear view of the road ahead.

Electrical Harness Installation
Finally, the electrical harness is installed, ensuring all electrical components function seamlessly.
