KISSIMMEE, FLA. – Aug 9, 2017– East Coast Defender is throttling up the excitement for award-winning custom Defenders with the announcement of two new builds, “Project Ironhorse” and “Project Punisher”. Both SUVs represent the ultimate in hand-crafted custom Defender builds that extend beyond off-road capabilities into luxury performance. The two new Defenders were completed at the Rover Dome, East Coast Defender’s national headquarters located in Kissimmee, Florida.
“Our ability to meet the growing demand for hand-crafted, custom Defenders is unmatched,” said Scott Wallace, East Coast Defender Co-Owner. “Our turn-key build process, as well as our attention to every detail sets us apart. From our on-site upholstery workshop where leather upholstery is hand-stitched to the exact specs of each client, to our in-house paint shop and drivetrain bays, literally every component of each Defender is assembled by a skilled craftsman here at the Rover Dome. Projects Ironhorse and Punisher equally illustrate our attention to detail.”
“Project Ironhorse” represents an ECD Heritage build that is a true throwback to the original. It has been rebuilt to stay as close to the original specifications, which includes a 4.6L Land Rover V8 that traces its roots back to the original Defenders. It remains true to an “old school” body style with a classic ROW dashboard and interior that sports the latest technology, including a touchscreen infotainment system and wireless charging. The heated, black leather seats combined with the diamond stitched headliner and wrapped dashboard create a luxury driving experience unlike any custom Defender on the road.
“Each custom Defender that rolls out of the Rover Dome is the ultimate in custom SUV workmanship,” said Tom Humble, East Coast Defender Co-owner. “What separates our team from other custom builders is our relentless pursuit of improving our workmanship and materials. Each Defender we build represents a new approach or material that furthers our place as the leader of custom Defender builds. Projects Ironhorse and Punisher are simply the latest in the evolution of our best-in-class standards.”
Equally as impressive as Ironhorse, Project Punisher retains its Defender heritage but is considered an ECD Custom build, being upgraded with a Puma dashboard and the latest in horsepower and refinement. Powered by a GM LC9 V8 engine, the Punisher is capable of taking on the worst of off-road conditions, yet still at home on the open highway. 18-inch black Sawtooth wheels shod with BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA K02 tires, combined with the full external roll cage and LED spot lamps give the Punisher an aggressive road presence.
“We’ve not only created a custom, luxury SUV, but a luxury client experience along with it,” said Elliot Humble, East Coast Defender Co-owner. “Every client who works with our team will find that the vehicle design process is as rewarding as driving away in their new Defender. From the initial consultation in our Design Studio, to the constant communication we provide during their build process, it’s safe to say that we’ve created a world-class experience that is unrivaled in our market.”

East Coast Defender was founded by three self-prescribed “British petrol heads,” brothers Tom and Elliot Humble, and Scott Wallace. Growing up in England, near the famous Lode Lane factory where the Defenders were produced, the three found themselves surrounded by Defenders throughout their childhood. East Coast Defender officially opened its facility in 2013 and has been building the world’s most celebrated, handcrafted Defenders since that time. Today, the company is based in Kissimmee, Florida, where every ECD custom Defender SUV is built by hand in the company’s 21,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, called the Rover Dome.
