A timeless classic, the Land Rover Defender 110 remains one of the most coveted offroading vehicles ever made. While the D110 has a whole lot of legacy to maintain, it’s a vehicle that affords owners the ability to customize nearly every aspect. Of course, the customization process of a restored Defender 110 from ECD doesn’t just include paint colors, engine options, and accessories; it also extends to seat configurations.
Here’s a look at the most popular seat configurations of a Defender 110.
What the four-seater layout lacks in passenger capacity, it more than makes up for it in storage capacity. The traditional four-seater layout features two captain chairs and then two seats in the middle row. Of course, this seat configuration leaves a ton of storage in the rear. Project Rowdy is one custom D110 build that features the four-seater layout with a unique cabinet feature installed in the cargo area.
The classic five-seater is among the most popular seat configurations of a Defender 110. Generally, this layout features two captain chairs and three additional seats in the middle row. With no seats located in the cargo areas, the rear can be used entirely for storage. One ECD build that features the five-seater layout is Project Peacemaker. The design on this D110 is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast, as it provides lots of storage in the rear with a front runner pullout drawer in the trunk equipped with a 110-volt power outlet for powering high-voltage equipment.
Another popular seat configuration of a D110 is the six-seater layout. Often, the six-seater layout features two captain chairs, two seats in the middle row, and two seats in the rear cargo area. Project Hugo features a six-seater design with two inward-facing jump seats in the load area.
Jumping up to the eight-passenger configuration, this D110 layout often features two captain chairs, two forward-facing middle seats, and four seats in the cargo area. The four seats in the cargo area are generally foldable, either in the form of jump seats or bench seats. Project Soho is one ECD D110 build that features the eight-seat configuration with foldable bench seats in the rear.
Providing the maximum seating capacity possible, the nine-seater with the jump seat layout is a popular configuration among many D110 owners. The nine-seater configuration generally features two captain chairs, three seats in the middle row, and four foldable seats in the cargo area. There are various ways to configure seats in the rear, with the two most popular options being jump seats or bench seats. One ECD build that features a nine-seat configuration with jump seats in the rear area is Project Yinzer.
