As a custom Land Rover Defender restoration shop, E.C.D. looks for ways to bring the 25-year old classic Defender into modern times. Being in the business of creating customs, we take the time to help clients define what restoration means to them.

While all of our builds go through a rigorous 12-14 month process to become the fully handcrafted and rebuilt Land Rover Defenders we’re known for, what customizations they go through within that time varies greatly. Each classic Defender is one-of-a-kind after all.

For some clients, restoration looks like a Heritage Edition Land Rover Defender (modeled from the classic 1985 to 1994 Defender look) with a traditional Land Rover color like Arles Blue, British Racing Green, or Alpine White, all with a classic white roof and color matching steel wheels. Restorations like these take time if the client prefers to keep the build as close to original as possible. We order original modeled parts from Rover’s North, or sometimes we use original parts that come in with older Defender builds. 

Others prefer a more modern take on the British Classic, opting to have their classic Defender fitted with upgrades like the Kahn wide body kit, a newer style Kahn X-lander bumper, and extra spacious Corbeau racing seats for their build. While these builds tend to take on criticisms from Defender enthusiasts who love the Defender's traditional look, they tend to turn heads and attract the attention of those who love a blend of old and new. These modern Defenders also tend to have more modern paint colors seen on other luxury vehicles such as Mercedes, Bentley, or Porsche.

More recently, we’ve seen clients come through wanting to restore their Classic Defender with one concept in mind, to have it customized to match another luxury vehicle they have in their collection. From a Mclaren to an Aston Martin, this style of vehicle matching has become a trend for the Rover Dome, and we have to say, it's one we love. The look of the two vehicles side by side is something else; it's always a stunning sight, to say the least. Plus, these builds don’t just match in color, but the entire interior of the Defender is meticulously designed to match the details of their fav luxury auto. 

From brand new paint to ground-up customized restored Defenders combined with modern innovations, the endless possibilities for taking a 25-year old classic Defender push us to leap the bounds of traditional “restoration.” One of our latest favorite innovations is bringing the electric Tesla Direct drivetrain to our entire vehicle line from the Series IIA to the Range Rover Classic.
