Project Windswept, a custom Defender 110 in Havana brown with Zermatt Silver accessories, is a build that represents a few firsts for E.C.D. The fully restored 110 is a build that our Co-Founder, Tom, has said rivals Bentley and other custom luxury SUV brands, and anyone stepping inside could see why. Project Windswept is E.C.D.’s first build with a near full panoramic roof, giving sky views to every row of seating. The middle row seating is captain style so that passengers have the space to ooh and ahh at the views with the perfect elbow room and space to look around. The amount of light the panoramic roof lets in is complemented by the build’s brown and cream Nappa leather interior. A peek at the build’s panoramic roof can be seen from an aerial view adding to its exterior look.
Needless to say, this is one of E.C.D.’s most stunning builds to date, and its destination makes it even more special. Project Windswept is heading home to Canada. Taking part in our extensive Concierge program, we flew Project Windswept’s owner down from Canada to meet with our Sales and Design team to discuss their vision for their dream custom Defender 110. The client’s trip also included a tour of the Rover Dome facilities, meeting the entire team, a comfortable stay here in Florida and a chance to test drive one of our custom builds for fun and inspiration.
Along with the one-of-a-kind panoramic roof for the Defender, the build is powered by an LS3 with custom E.C.D. Air Suspension, 18” Defend 1983 wheels, and Corbeau Trailcat seats. While E.C.D. isn’t unfamiliar with building a vehicle that is to be shipped elsewhere (our Project Viper was our first build intended to vacation abroad in Costa Rica), we always have to ensure that the vehicle meets every detailed requirement for the place it calls home — whether that’s in California or Canada.
Since import restrictions for Canada are 15 years, as opposed to 25 here in the US, we were able to begin with a newer than normal base vehicle. Everything else from that point was simply ensuring the vehicle met the client’s standards and following the well researched and well thought out planning that is typical for us here at E.C.D. One significant difference we experienced for Project Windswept was the shipping, which can be difficult to track and manage for most other automotive shops, especially with such precious cargo. We had to use two carriers, one to get the build to the US/Canada border and the other to get the build through Canada to the client’s home.
According to Co-Founder, Tom, “It was a very smooth process, and we went from door to door in 3 days. It’s something we’ve perfected over the years, so it went as smoothly as our other deliveries. Others might find it tricky without the years of experience.”
Project Windswept now graces the E.C.D. Showcase page and Youtube and can be admired from right here on the website. If you’re interested in owning a Land Rover Defender with one-of-a-kind views from a rare panoramic roof, get in touch at [email protected].
