The mighty D90 has proven itself to be a smaller but equally capable edition of the Land Rover Defender. Often chosen as a replacement daily-driver for modern-day luxury SUVS, the D90 has transformed its nostalgic duty as a work vehicle, but it is still capable of so much more. Here are some of the top-specced custom Defender 90s in E.C.D. history.
One of E.C.D.’s first popular restored custom D90 builds was Project Millenium Falcon, a build whose wide Kahn body kit and LS3 powered engine helps it live up to its namesake. Project Millenium Falcon’s sleek rear Masai Panoramic windows and full safety devices roll cage give it a rugged but ultra-modern look and feel. Inside, the build brings out the tech with LED lighting and an Amazon Echo unit that offers wireless WIFI throughout the Defender. It’s smooth matte grey color, and black 18” Boost/Kahn Alloy wheels make this a mighty D90.
One look at Project Desert Storm, and you can instantly tell this isn’t your typical Defender build. This custom Defender 90 is painted in Corris Grey in a full gloss finish with a black canvas convertible top. Sitting on a 2” Lift Kit and 20” Kahn Mondial Retro wheels, Project Desert Storm has a Tubular A-bar Winch bumper with Warn winch to get it out of sticky situations. Inside this custom D90 has two-toned Berkshire Scarlet Red & Supersoft Black Puma Classic seats. A 6-speed auto transmission paired with a 6.2L LS3 power Desert Storm.
Another popular and fully specced D90 in the E.C.D. lineup is Project Blackcomb, a fully custom Defender 90 that is more luxury than rugged. Its Zermatt Silver color with Gloss Black accents gives it a sleek look complemented by its modern Masai Panoramic rear glass. The build sits on 18” Special Edition Sawtooth Alloy wheels, has an Aircon winch bumper with daytime running lights with a Warn Industries VR12-S winch with Spydura black synthetic wire. Under the hood, this sleek Defender 90 has a 565-horsepower LS3 and has Viper remote start with keyless entry and WiFi.
Project Alpinist is, without a doubt, one of our most custom Defender 90s to date. Built for life on the farm, the Liquid Metal D90 looks more like it is ready for an apocalypse. Custom fitted with 18" VBS Encore Black wheels in Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, adjustable E.C.D. Air Ride Suspension, Brembo brakes, and custom 4.12 Heavy-duty pegged differentials with a 565-horsepower LS3 as the cherry on top make this D90 unstoppable. Outside, Alpinist has a Land Rover Defender 90 Hard Top Roof Rack Roll Cage that sits on a full external roll cage with 4 led spotlights, a rear ladder, and light guards. The build’s Chocolate Brown Torino Terrier and Caviar leather interior is one of a kind and has a logo special to its Ranch home monogrammed into the headrests. What makes this build extra special is the custom features its owner added for her pups. They include custom foldable Mesh guards fitted on the windows to keep the dogs inside and safe, rear leisure battery-powered fans to quickly keep them cool, and a custom pull out ramp in the rear so the pups can easily bound in and out of the back. This custom restored Defender 90 is truly stunning.
Project Family Vacation is a restomod Defender build after any Defender enthusiast’s heart. The safari styled build has a modern LS3 engine but remains true to the Defender heritage with a 5-speed manual transmission. Upgraded Fox suspension and upgraded performance braking ensures this build can take on vacations into the mountains with ease. In the traditional Land Rover color of Coniston Green, the convertible D90 takes nostalgia to another level with its spare tire on the bonnet, 8-spoke black steel wheels, a full roll cage with a roof rack, and 4 Hella spotlights. Inside, the custom Defender 90s Nappa Thema 5001 Ginger & Thema Nero leather interior are a perfect complement to its exterior color and NRG ST-065 wood steering wheel and other wood accents throughout. Custom Nostalgia VT Series gauges and exchangeable Tubular Beach Doors make this build ideal for family vacations.
Our most recent custom D90 delivery is also a build that was designed to turn heads and has proven to be an E.C.D. favorite, Project Dante. For one, this build is impossible to miss in its Latte Menta bright paint color with Zermatt Silver exterior accessories. Its 18″ inch Kahn Rostyle wheels, heritage style grille, external roll cage make it a simple but unique beauty. Garrett Distressed Sepia Leather dresses this custom D90’s interior and complements the build’s Wood Hydro-Dipped accents throughout. With its custom ECD Custom Center Console, Dante is another that is more of a luxury custom SUV than a rugged path beater, but it is genuinely a one-of-one vehicle.
As time goes on, we’re continually looking out for builds that help us push our comfort levels and our level of innovation. From custom colors to custom features and lifestyle accessories, we pride ourselves on being able to deliver one-of-a-kind vehicles to match our clients’ individuality.
