What Makes the Land Rover
Defender 130 Unique?

The Land Rover Defender 130 is named for the length of its wheelbase, noticeably longer than the Defender 90 and 110 models. Interestingly, the wheel base is actually 127 inches long, and its predecessor was called the Land Rover 127. Improvements in the 1990s led to the new Defender 130 moniker, a rounding up of the less catchy “127”, and a signifier of a new era of rugged looks paired with premium build quality. The 130 is ideal for anyone needing more seating and improved cargo capacity, but this vehicle also stands out as an eye-catching presence on the road. An effective combination of classic Defender DNA with modern utility-focused design.

The Legacy of a Legend

The original Land Rover Defender 130 dates back to 1948, when its ancestor was developed from an ex-army Jeep-style vehicle. Originally working hard as an agricultural companion or exploration vehicle, today, the Defender is hailed as a paragon of luxury that retains its off-roading heritage. ECD Auto Design has restored and built over 400 custom Land Rovers since 2013, with the Defender 130 becoming a top choice for clients seeking space, power, and style. Our builds have been featured in respected automotive media outlets like Robb Report and Top Gear, underscoring our team’s reputation as an authority in the world of bespoke vehicle design. We understand the history and nostalgia connected to Land Rover heritage and complement that with our mechanical knowledge and skills, plus hands-on experience from hundreds of builds. Your input is the critical ingredient — you choose what you want in your Defender, and we bring your vision to life. Leverage Defender versatility, whether you need a truck for family adventures, a unique build for an expedition, or you want the perfect vehicle for overlanding.

Performance and Configuration Options

Choosing your Defender 130 specifications is easy with ECD. You can pick from various drivetrain options, including the LS3 GM V8, the LT1, or even a fully electric option. Decide how stiff you need your suspension, what brakes suit you best, and ask about performance upgrades for a better off-roading experience.

Our team invests in the highest quality parts and drivetrains, so you can trust that your new Land Rover Defender 130 is reliable, easy to service, and carries parts that are widely available if you need repairs or replacements in the future. You can choose a four- or five-seat configuration, both of which include a practical truck bed that can be further customized to your needs. An integrated picnic drawer allows you to enjoy the outdoor spaces you explore in style while gullwing storage boxes neatly tuck away practical accessories and tools. You can even deck your truck bed out in premium materials, such as Brazilian teakwood. Just tell us your ideas and we’ll do our best to make them happen.

Designing Your Defender 130 Experience

When you choose a custom Land Rover Defender 130, it’s no exaggeration that you’re in control of every feature. From performance to customization and luxury finishes, your 130 can be completely unique. Take a look at the showcase of previous builds we’ve completed to see just how different each of our Defenders is — and how personal to the owner and the use case. For family-focused buyers, we can talk you through rear-seat entertainment options to help make adventures run even smoother. We can add wireless charging pads and smartphone connectivity to keep everyone connected. Or if you’re ready to explore off the beaten track, opt for a rugged expedition look, complete with roof racks and other accessories. One of the best aspects of the Defender 130 is its versatility and ability to blend practicality and luxury with zero compromise. Every ECD build includes a detailed consultation phase where we learn about your lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, and driving habits. This ensures the final product is more than a luxury vehicle; it’s an extension of your personality. Our clients regularly praise the team’s balance of craftsmanship and innovation. One recent owner said, “This build exceeded every expectation — the attention to detail is unreal, and the power behind the wheel is something you have to feel to believe.”
