Originally built to meet a market in need of a go-anywhere vehicle, the Land Rover Defender’s primary use during its initial production was something between a sheep truck and a military utility vehicle. With this purpose, its intended use depended heavily on the classic Defender being a reliable 4x4 that could handle muddy, rugged terrain. As the years went on, the Defender made its namesake worldwide as the vehicle that could take a serious beating.
Throughout the 90s’, the Land Rover Defender included more and more exterior accessories that helped the vehicle maintain its durability, though it was still known as a workhorse with frequent issues such as leaks and breakdowns. Regardless, the vehicle is trusted to use its last leg to perform whatever tasks are asked of it, and it’s this sheer will gives ECD its passion for pursuing bringing the vehicle into modern times.
To enhance the classic Defender’s traditional trustworthiness, ECD offers a range of improvements that help make the classic Defender even more durable. Safety Devices roll cages, Hella Spot Lamps, and ARB front brush guard bumpers are all exterior accessories that can help improve the durability of your vehicle. Some other add-ons to consider can help you get out of sticky situations or tough terrains, these include built-in Jerry cans (gasoline for us Americans), easily removable Sand Tracks, and a Warn winch added onto the front bumper.
While ECD offers add-ons, the true durability for its custom Defenders is the fact that they are rebuilt from the ground up. That means everything from the chassis to the headliner gets a do-over. ECD repairs the chassis, improves the integrity of the vehicle’s foundation, seals, and repairs the body panels and openings to help prevent things like rust and leaks. The vehicle’s interior also gets an overhaul with either new seats or newly reupholstered traditional Land Rover seats. The vehicle’s insulation, door cards, and new features are also secured with no bolt or piece out of place.
Quality control is the last step to ensure these vehicles remain faithful to the classic Defender’s original purpose of being a go-anywhere vehicle. If you’re ready to start your custom Defender build, get in touch by emailing [email protected]
