There’s no other brand in the world as synonymous with off-roading as Land Rover. At ECD, we don’t think any other brand in the world has the off-roading capabilities that the iconic British Land Rover brand has to offer. While Defenders, with their utilitarian pasts, are generally the first Land Rover that comes to mind when it comes to off-roading, the Range Rover Classic can certainly hold its own. Here’s everything you need to know about Range Rover Classic off-roading capabilities.
While the Range Rover Classic may be seen as a more city-friendly model in the Land Rover lineup, at the end of the day, it’s still a Land Rover. Of course, being a Land Rover means the Range Rover Classic is still built to tackle the toughest terrain, regardless of its more refined presentation.
The Range Rover Classic, also commonly referred to as the Range Rover County, was produced by Land Rover from 1970 to 1996. While these vehicles haven’t been in production for over 25 years, they remain a favorite SUV among Land Rover enthusiasts. There are plenty of vintage Range Rover Classics still cruising down the highways and taking on the rugged back roads.
When you think about off-roading or overlanding with a Land Rover, the Defender lineup is probably what comes to mind first. However, if you’re new to the community, you might simply wonder what the heck overlanding is. Well, to clear this up quickly, all you really need to know is that overlanding describes a self-reliant travel adventure with the journey, not the destination, as the goal.
There’s no denying Defenders are great for off-roading and overlanding. Just check out Project Invictus, an ECD Custom D110 build that sports a roof-top tent, providing the perfect overlanding experience. Project Peacemaker is another example of a D110 that's built for handling the outdoor lifestyle in luxury.
So, while Defenders may be synonymous with all things off-roading, Range Rover Classic off-roading capabilities should not be underestimated. The Range Rover Classic is a roomy SUV that not only serves as an ideal family car on a long road trip but is well-equipped to handle even the rockiest of terrains. Take Project Red Rover, for example. This impressive Land Rover RRC is painted in Carmen Red Pearl and is powered by a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine with 430 hp. This RRC can go anywhere with its 6-speed automatic with High/Low range for off-roading use.
Another ECD RRC build that's perfect for cruising open highways and tackling off-roads is Project Mercer. This Range Rover Classic is painted in Epsom Green and sits on 20-inch Kahn Mondial Wheels finished in Matte Black. With modern luxuries and powerful performance produced by an LT4 630 hp engine, this RRC will take you wherever you want to go in style.
If you’re ready to tackle the roads less traveled at the wheel of a vintage Range Rover Classic, then it's time to connect with ECD. At ECD Automotive Design, we offer custom RRC builds in three distinct trims, including Retro, Custom, and Signature. Just like with our Defender builds, we construct each RRC restoration to our client’s exact specifications, inside and out.
The starting price of an ECD Range Rover Classic is $219,995. If you want to learn more about Range Rover Classic off-roading capabilities or customization, check out our online Range Rover Classic builder to test out some colors, styles, and upgrades for your RRC restoration project.
