So you finally have your custom Land Rover Defender in your driveway and you’re questioning where you should drive this beautifully majestic mass of a vehicle. After taking one quick spin around the neighborhood out of excitement and for pure fun, here are a couple of other locations we’ve loved driving the builds that we think you’d also enjoy!
The hills and vineyards of California not only provide a bit of adventure for your defender but since they were originally built as utility vehicles, they can pull their own weight when it comes to getting up those steep hills so you can experience the best views. Like with any other larger SUV, you’ll want to hug the turns of those California hillsides but thrashing up and down a vineyard mountain is a level of fun we can attest to.
The beach is an extremely popular driving terrain for soft-top defenders. Driving them up on the sand and in front of the waves. No need to worry about the texture or depth of the sand; your do-anything vehicle can take it on, and if you really like sand, try out any local sand dunes too! The ride may be a bit bumpier but feeling your build pull out of deep divots and tough spots is a unique and fairly addicting experience.
Nothing beats driving a 25+-year-old vehicle on the interstate when you know for a fact that its performance is just as awesome as any other vehicle on the highway (if not better). Being able to experience a long open highway where you can test your
build’s capabilities as a daily driver is a great way to get to know your beast. If you don’t like driving next to other vehicles, try a long and lone back road where you can enjoy the scenery in peace.
If hiking and camping are a typical family outing for you, you’d love the experience of driving your defender through the rough terrain of the local woods or forest. Master using your winch to get you out of (or into) tough spots and make the trip worthy of the “go-anywhere” vehicle. On the other side of that, if your family likes to ski or snowboard, hit the snow and see what it can really do!
Regardless of what your lifestyle excursions bring, your defender is ready to take on the challenge and exceed your journey’s expectations. The most important part is the experience, the fun and continuing the nostalgic purpose of the vehicle.
