As a custom Land Rover Defender builder, we’ve been lucky enough to see quite the range of custom designs come through the Rover Dome. We’ve had custom Defenders designed to match other luxury vehicles, custom Defenders built for off-roading in another country, and ones built to dominate the road. One aspect of a fully customized Defender that always makes us excited is when the client chooses their custom color for their build. Here’s a list of some of the coolest (and non-traditional) colors we’ve done to date.
Last year, Project Dante turned heads as it rode through the neighborhood where its new owner lived. The custom Defender 90’s bright color is rare and not one you’d expect to be paired with a Defender; not only that, but the name of the color also makes it that much more intriguing. Dante is painted in a custom Latte Menta, which, if you look it up, is also a popular Italian drink (called Latte e menta or mint tea latte) which is a very similar color. Bright as can be, you’ll probably never see a Defender this color green in real life.
Clearly named after its color, Project Bronze Beauty is a custom Defender 110 that is not only a cool ass color on the exterior but a lovely dual-toned color on the interior. The black and olive-colored interior makes a perfect match to the Bronze exterior with its eggshell finish. The eggshell finish gives the vehicle a matte look, making it look like a blend of a modern-day color with the nostalgic colored paint of the vehicle’s history.
Project camper is another one of our most popular builds. The controversial build is a fan favorite because of its Rosello red exterior and its all-white interior (Yes, a Defender with an all-white interior, we know). The build’s other features make it a truly modern-looking stunner.
This particular build is actually a traditional Land Rover Color with a slight twist. The Keswick green build looks rugged and military, especially thanks to its completely eggshell finish. To add even more to this look, the build also has Nara bronze wheels and external accessories that really set off the LT4 Defender’s looks.
Some honorable mentions go to Project Ghost, an all-Imola grey custom Defender 110, Project Azure and its Crystal Covelline Blue finish, and a Project Sunfire, a sparkly Fuschia custom Defender that has the same color as its owner’s favorite dress. Now, we have custom 3D software that allows our clients to get a fully rendered preview of what their chosen color would look like on their vintage Defender.
