The Land Rover brand has created a lasting legacy, thanks in part to its vintage Range Rover Classic lineup. From the ideal family car to the ultimate offroader, Range Rover Classics are simply multipurpose vehicles that you can always count on. From power and performance to style and aesthetics, the 1990s Range Rover Classic remains a coveted vehicle over three decades since its initial offering. Here’s a look at the legacy of the 1990s Range Rover Classic.
The Rover Company, which was founded in Solihull, England, in 1878, began manufacturing its Land Rover lineup in 1948. These initial Land Rovers were utility vehicles inspired by the British Army Jeeps used during World War II and designed to handle agriculture workloads. Soon, the Land Rover became synonymous with offroading and became a coveted utility vehicle not only in England but across the world, especially throughout Europe, Australia, Africa, the Middle East, and North America.
Spurred from the Land Rover lineup, the company began manufacturing Range Rovers in 1970. The Range Rover Classic was continually produced by Land Rover from 1970 to 1996. During the first decade of production, the Range Rover was only produced as a 2-door vehicle. It wasn't until 1981 that Land Rover manufactured the very first 4-door Range Rover. The 1990s Range Rover Classic also experienced some special upgrades and model changes that make the 1990s Range Rover Classic an especially sought-after vintage SUV.
After hearing consumer requests for more rear-seat legroom, Land Rover introduced the first long-wheelbase Range Rover Classic option in 1992. This was a huge change for the 1990s Range Rover Classic lineup as the LWB option added an additional 8 inches between the wheels. While the SWB option of 100 inches was still available, the LWB option of 108 inches created not only a great family car but also the ideal road trip vehicle with its superior offroading capabilities and extended cargo capacity.
At ECD, our dedicated team specializes in seamlessly blending the legacy of Range Rover Classics with the latest and greatest features that modern technology has to offer. We've tackled quite a few 1990s Range Rover Classic restoration projects over the years. Take Project Gibbles, for example. This 1995 Range Rover Classic was built to our client's exact specifications. Project Gibbles is finished in Mariana black with black and silver accents all around and sits on 20-inch Khan Mondial-retro wheels with Pirelli Scorpion All Season tires. On the interior, this 1990s Range Rover Classic features an OEM steering wheel wrapped in black leather with customized ECD digital gauges. Under the hood, Project Gibbles is powered by a GM LT1 engine with 8-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to tech features, this vintage Range Rover is outfitted with a Sony Halo touchscreen head unit, Apple Carplay, wireless charging, rear AC, and multiple USB ports throughout the vehicle.
Another standout Range Rover Classic build is Project Amalfi. This 1995 Range Rover Classic is powered by an L92 V8 6.2 L engine. Along with its power, Project Amalfi is a true head-turner. This 1990s Range Rover Classic is painted in full gloss Lincoln Green with black accents all around. The SUV sits on 18-inch Khan Raw Style silver wheels with Michelin road tires. In the interior, this Range Rover Classic features a Land Rover OEM steering wheel with standard RRC gauges. In addition, the SUV features two captain chairs and a 60/40 split bench mid-row where each seat is wrapped in a single stitch square of Garrett Berkshire Auburn leather.
However you're envisioning your vintage Range Rover Classic, the team at ECD can turn your restoration dreams into reality.
