Paintwork

The finish is one of the most defining parts of the build. From color selection to final application, every detail is tailored to the vehicle and executed with the precision needed to create depth, clarity, and a lasting impression.

Paint As
Precise As
The Build.

At ECD, paintwork is not a final step — it’s a core part of the build. Every vehicle that leaves our facility carries a finish selected by the client, executed by our team, and held to the same standard as everything beneath the surface. That means correct preparation, proper chemistry, and no shortcuts in the booth.

We work across classic, modern, and luxury vehicles, applying the same discipline regardless of platform. Whether you want an era-correct shade on a vintage restoration, a full custom mix on a modern Defender, or a flawless single-stage on a boutique European — the process is the same. Measured, methodical, and built to last.

Three
Platforms.
One Standard.

Custom paint at ECD is available across our full vehicle range — each category with its own approach, and the same uncompromising finish across all three.

Tier 01
Classic

Vintage machines deserve finishes that honour their era while meeting modern standards of execution. We source period-correct colour references, match original codes where requested, and apply through a process calibrated to the unique surfaces of older metalwork.

Tier 02
Modern

Today's platform with a finish that doesn't look factory. Modern builds in our facility receive full custom paint — client-specified colours, optional two-tone configurations, and finishes applied at a standard that out-performs anything OEM.

Tier 03
Luxury

Boutique vehicles operated at our highest specification. From Jaguar E-Types to classic Porsches, these builds receive the most exacting preparation and finish work we offer — multi-stage processes, bespoke colour development, and review at every layer.

Every Panel Made Right

A paint job is only as good as what it sits on. Before any color is introduced, our team strips, derestricts, and corrects each panel to bare metal where the condition demands it. Filler is used only where structurally necessary, never as a substitute for proper repair. The result is a foundation that makes the final finish look the way it should: uniform, deep, and defect-free.

No Limits Paint Options

We don't limit clients to a swatch book. If you have a specific reference, a Pantone, a sample chip, a photo of a shade you've carried around for years. Our team will develop a custom mix to match it. For clients who prefer guidance, we offer curated color consultations as part of the design process, drawing from our archive of finishes applied across hundreds of builds. Painted using PPG Deltron products.

Controlled Paint Application

Every vehicle is painted in our temperature- and humidity-controlled spray facility. Base coats are applied in multiple passes, cut and inspected between each stage, with clear coat laid at the appropriate viscosity for the finish type specified. After the final cure, panels are hand-polished and reviewed under high-intensity lighting before the vehicle moves to the next phase of the build.

The Paint
Process

Every custom paint build follows the same sequence — disciplined, documented, and reviewed at each stage before moving forward.

01
Design Consultation
Color direction is established with the client. Custom mixes, finish types, and any two-tone configurations are confirmed before the build begins.
02
Panel Assessment & Strip
Each panel is assessed individually. Surface defects, prior repairs, and metal condition are documented and addressed before primer is applied.
03
Primer & Surface Build
Epoxy or high-build 2K primer is applied and blocked to a flat, uniform surface. No base coat is applied until the substrate passes inspection.
04
Color Application
Base coat is sprayed in controlled passes inside our climate-controlled facility. Each stage is reviewed before the next is applied.
05
Clear & Cure
2K urethane clear coat is applied at the correct film build for the specified finish, then cured under controlled conditions before any polishing begins.
06
Hand Polish & Final Inspection
The finished vehicle is hand-polished, reviewed under high-intensity lighting, and signed off before it moves to the next stage of the build.
