Every Range Rover Classic that rolls out of our Kissimmee workshop arrived as a 30 year old truck with a story, and usually a few problems hiding under the arches. Since 2013 our craftsmen have stripped, rebuilt, and reimagined these vehicles from the bare chassis up, one commission at a time, as part of more than 600 hand-built classics delivered to owners across the country. That experience taught us something no spec sheet captures: the Range Rover Classic was the first SUV that made luxury and mud compatible, and when it is rebuilt properly it still embarrasses vehicles designed fifty years later.

This page is where that rebuild begins. Below you will find our current builds, honest guidance on what these trucks cost and what to look for before buying one, and the design process that turns an original RRC into a vehicle specified entirely around you, from the drivetrain to the stitching. If you are researching whether a restored Range Rover Classic belongs in your garage, everything we have learned taking them apart is here.

What These Classic Range Rovers Actually Cost

Prices for the Range Rover Classic cover a wider spread than almost any vehicle we work on. At the bottom of the market, running project trucks trade hands for around $5,000. Driver-quality originals average roughly $259,995 at auction. Exceptional low-mileage survivors have crossed the block above $120,000, and the very best examples listed publicly reach past $300,000. That spread confuses a lot of first-time buyers, so here is how we explain it in the workshop.

The cheap end of the market is cheap for a reason. When a donor truck arrives at our facility, the first things our technicians check are the rear wheel arches, the inner wings, the tailgate, and the chassis outriggers, because that is where three decades of moisture does its quiet work. A $15,000 RRC with hidden chassis rot can absorb $40,000 in corrective work before a single upgrade is discussed. Auction buying carries the same risk with less time to inspect.

A fully commissioned build sits at the other end of the spread, beginning at [INSERT CURRENT ECD RRC STARTING PRICE] with most clients investing [INSERT TYPICAL RANGE] once drivetrain, interior, and technology choices are made. What that figure buys is the removal of every unknown. The chassis is stripped, blasted, repaired, and protected. The drivetrain is new, not patched. The Lucas-era electrics that gave these trucks their reputation are replaced with modern wiring. Roughly 2,200 hours of certified craftsman labor go into each vehicle, which is why an ECD build is priced like the ground-up rebuild it is rather than the used truck it started as.

There is no wrong door into RRC ownership. A well-bought original is a wonderful thing. But if the goal is a Range Rover Classic you can hand the keys of to anyone in the family, drive in August in Florida with cold air conditioning, and never wonder what is happening underneath, the commissioned route is the one that removes the gamble.

LEARN MORE ABOUT BUILDING AN RRC

Thinking About Buying a Range Rover Classic?

A Range Rover Classic is a timeless luxury SUV, but the right one depends on condition, goals, and how you plan to drive it. Many buyers look at late 1980s and early 1990s models for their balance of classic styling and improved drivability, but the best years to consider ultimately come down to the quality of the individual vehicle.

Common issues to watch for include rust, aging suspension, electrical problems, worn interiors, and tired drivetrains. Reliability can vary widely. An original Range Rover Classic may offer vintage charm, but it can require ongoing maintenance. An auction-bought Range Rover Classic may seem like a smart entry point, but hidden repairs and restoration needs can quickly raise the true cost.

That is why buyers often compare three options: an original Range Rover Classic for authenticity, an auction-bought Range Rover Classic for a lower starting price, or a custom/restored Range Rover Classic for a more complete ownership experience.

The cost of restoring or customizing depends on the starting vehicle, paint, interior, drivetrain, suspension, technology, and finish level. A high-quality Range Rover Classic build is not just about appearance. It is about creating a vehicle that feels solid, refined, and built with purpose.

For buyers who want heritage with modern comfort, a Custom Range Rover Classic, Restored Range Rover Classic, or Range Rover Classic restomod can deliver the classic look with a more personalized and confident driving experience.
