As 2020 came to a close, E.C.D. was able to introduce its last truck of the 2020 year as also being the first build to drive away with the company’s first GM 6.2L supercharged LT4 V8 engine. The engine, which is also the drivetrain for the Chevy Camaro ZL1, rolled off the line and into Project Langeti, a military/convoy looking D110 that really brought the nostalgia of the Land Rover Defender to life.
As one of the fastest builds ever produced by E.C.D., its standard specs clock at 640-horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque at 6600 RPMs, making it the most powerful engine we offer straight out the crate. Of course, with additional modifications, the LT4 can reach up to 650-horsepower and an even higher torque of 650lbs. Even with Langeti’s total weight hitting 4,450 lbs, incredibly, the build still clocks 0-60 mph in just 5.7 seconds compared to the Camaro ZL1 at 3,907 lbs going 0-60 mph in only 4 seconds. We hope to be able to clock the speed of other LT4 Land Rovers as it becomes a popular drivetrain choice for our clients. Just imagine the fun of 0-60 in a lovely little D90 with that much power.
The LT4 features an Eaton TVS supercharger capable of producing more than 9 PSI of boost, a cast-aluminum block, forged aluminum pistons, and a forged-steel crankshaft.
Being the most powerful engine we offer, clients should take into consideration that compared to our more energy-efficient Tesla drivetrain, the LT4 engine requires premium 93-octane fuel, which could be something to consider when traveling long-range. The LT4 drivetrain setup is an engine option for those who would like the best of both worlds in their nostalgic one of a kind custom Defender — the ability to go anywhere, with the performance of a fast and more modern vehicle.
With the performance of each new drivetrain solution we introduce ramping up to include more modern and noteworthy engines, our latest additions to the options are a means of ensuring our vehicles have the longevity to meet every client’s lifestyle needs for the long-haul. The LT4, being a GM drivetrain, also comes with the GM 2-year, 50,000-mile warranty, and serviceability at any local GM dealer.
