Believe it or not, E.C.D.’s original drive-train options did NOT include its popular Chevy LS3 V8 engines. No, our original builds featured none other than the classic Rover V8 engine (along with a few TDI builds). But being a leader in both ground-up Defender rebuilds and classic car innovation, it’s time we introduce yet another modernization to our already expansive collection of bespoke, restored vehicles.

Since those Rover V8 days, E.C.D has been researching a way to bring the Electric Defender to the everyday American off-road market, and it only made sense to focus on the country’s top electric vehicle — Tesla. Seeking to combine the all classic heritage of the Defender with a 21st-century powerhouse, we chose the Tesla Motor Direct unit as the latest drive-train to our line-up.

The Defender, already known for its go-anywhere do-anything history, will only continue on its path of notoriety as we introduce Electric Defenders that are reliably powered by Tesla batteries and controllers. Holding 100KWH of power, the Electric Defender has a 5-hour three-phase charge-time and an estimated driving range of 220 miles.Using the Tesla Direct unit, our line of Electric Defenders will bring energy-efficient, maintenance-free, electric drive systems that will allow our clients to enjoy quiet, reliable drives. Of course, sticking true to our need to add power and performance to the heritage of the Defender, our Electric Defender will still push 0-60 in 5-seconds flat.
