There's no other way to put it. The Land Rover Defender is just one of those timeless vehicles. Having remained one of the most coveted off-roaders for more than four decades, this vehicle has a proven reputation. No matter if you're cruising down the highway or tackling roads less traveled, the Defender gets you to your destination in style.
What's great about the vintage Defenders is that they are completely customizable. This means seating choices for Defenders are plenty. Whether you want a cozy two-seater or need a more accommodating vehicle, there's a seat layout configuration that is just right for you. Find out more about seat layouts for Defenders below.
The Land Rover Defender 90 is the smallest SUV in the Original Defender lineup, featuring a 90-inch wheelbase and two doors. Despite its smaller size, the D90 can seat up to six people, and with an ECD custom build, there are also several four-seat configurations to choose from. Here's what the layouts look like.
The first seat layout configuration for the D90 is the classic four-seat layout. Of course, this seat layout is simply two passengers seat in the rear paired with two captain seats in the front. In addition, forward-facing jump seats can be placed in the rear. This allows you to fold up the back seats and use the cargo area when necessary.
The ECD custom Barolo Black Defender 90, known as Project Annapurna, is one example of a D90 featuring the classic four-seater layout. A second ECD build with this design is Project Alpinist, which also has a built-in pull-out ramp that enables dogs to get in and out of the cargo area easily.
Another optimal seat layout for the D90 is the four-seat layout with a storage box. For this Defender seat layout, two seats are placed along one side of the rear, while a storage box is installed on the opposite side. The all-electric Tesla-powered Defender 110 build, known as Project Britain, features a four-seat layout with a storage box in the rear cargo area.
A third seat layout option for the D90 is a four-seater with a rear bench. In this configuration, there are two captain chairs in the front of the SUV and a single forward-facing bench seat that can seat two people in the cargo area. You can check out additional details about this layout in the ECD design simulator.
One of the most popular seat layout configurations for the D90 is the six-seater option with jump seats. This configuration provides room for two additional passengers, as two foldable inward-facing jump seats are placed on either side of the rear cargo area. This means two people can sit up front in two captain chairs, and four more can sit comfortably in the rear area. Some ECD builds with this seat layout include Project Rainier, Project Desert Storm, and Project CL.
The D110 is the four-door version of the Defender, in which power meets practicality. It is a spacious SUV that can seat up to nine people. With an ECD custom build, you can choose from four different seat layouts for this model. Discover the various seat configurations for the D110 below.
One seat layout option for the D110 is the classic five-seat layout. It features two captain seats in the front of the vehicle and three additional seats in the middle row. With this layout, the entire cargo area is free to use for storage. Project Alpaca is one ECD custom build that features the five-seater layout on the D110.
Another seat configuration on the D10 is the classic six-seat layout. This option puts two captain chairs in the front of the SUV, two seats in the middle row, and two seats in the rear cargo area. The two seats in the rear can be either forward-facing or inward-facing jump seats depending on a client's specifications. While this configuration takes up some storage space in the Defender, it provides a roomier feel for passengers. An example of a restoration with this six-seater layout is Project Hugo.
The eight-seat layout with jump seats is another popular configuration for the custom Defender 110. In this layout, there are two captain chairs in the front and two forward-facing seats in the middle row, followed by four total inward-facing jump seats lined along both sides of the cargo area. This arrangement doesn't offer a lot of extra space, but because the rear jump seats are foldable, the cargo area can be used as a storage area when necessary. One ECD project that features the eight-seater layout is Project Viking.
The nine-seater layout featuring the jump seats is very similar to the eight-seat layout. The only difference is in the middle row, where instead of there being two forward-facing seats, there are three. If you want a seating configuration that can handle a baseball team, the nine-seater layout will be the perfect fit. The Corris Gray Metallic Custom Defender 110 build, known as Project Olsen, features this nine-seat configuration.
Whether you want quaint seating for two or the ability to hall around an entire sports team, ECD can configure just about any seating layout for your Vintage Land Rover Defender build. From inward-facing bench seats to forward-facing jump seats, the possibilities are many.
