As a shop that restores vintage Defenders to a more modern version of their original glory, we are always excited when a client comes to us with a concept for a more heritage style Custom Defender. We then have to begin planning how to maintain the nostalgic aspects of the classic Defender look. Here’s a look at some of our top most popular Heritage styled Land Rover Defender builds.
Alpine Yeti is an extremely rare overhaul of the classic NAS Defender 110 in the traditional Land Rover color of Alpine White. The build kept the majority of its original heritage that came with the rare NAS Defender 110s, such as its internal and external roll cages, its front brush guard, its roof rack with a basket, and its steel wheels. The client opted to maintain these accessories by simply getting them repainted in black gloss paint. Other feature favorites on this build include its snorkel, traditional TD5 style dashboard, and 2.8L Cummins Diesel engine. These features were completely refurbished and kept with the build. Inside, the seats were also reupholstered to a more modern two-toned color with a simple stitch design. The more modern aspects of the build include its turn-dial shifter and performance breaks. This build is a fan favorite from E.C.D., loved by both enthusiasts and automotive media alike. In the traditional Land Rover color of Coniston green, this powerful D90 has a completely safari styled look that can’t help but turn heads. The build’s convertible canvas top is covered by a roof basket attached to its internal roll cage, and its bright Hella Spotlights light the way for its adventures. The build also has a front brush guard, black 8-spoke steel wheels, and its spare wheel and tire are placed on the bonnet instead of the standard rear carrier. The build only gets more stunning inside with seating for four wrapped in Nappa Thema 5001 Ginger & Thema Nero leather to complement its wood accents throughout. The heritage style steering wheel accentuates its 5-speed manual shifter perfectly. Its more modern touches include its powerful LS3 engine and its removable NAS style doors that can be replaced with tube beach doors.

Tuki is a build after any Defender enthusiasts heart. It is painted in the traditional Land Rover color of Keswick green with a white roof and matching white steel wheels. The build sports a roof rack with a basket and rear access ladder, giving it the true heritage look. Setting off its exterior style, Project Tuki also has a Land Rover heritage style grille painted to match the Keswick green. Inside, a Nardi Wooden wheel complements its classic-styled seats wrapped in a Panda Charcoal Leather with a more simple stitch design. All American Nickle series gauges add to the classic Defender’s look. The build is powered by a classic Rover V8 engine and has the modern touch of an automatic transmission.

Originally nicknamed Project Huey after the last “Huey Defender” to come off the line at Land Rover, Project Heritage 90 was built to maintain as many of its original features as possible. It even features a rebuilt Rover V8 engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, a TD5 dashboard, and Final Edition “Hue 166” genuine Land Rover seats. A tan canvas top complements the traditional Land Rover Grasmere green color, and its original seats are wrapped in a grey leather with a simple stitch design. Steel wheels, a Nardi Wood steering wheel, and heritage style grille tie the look in for the ultimate classic Defender look.

S2 is also a project modeled in the concept of Heritage Edition collection from E.C.D. Its bright color is a the traditional Land Rover Color of Grasmere Green paint in full gloss with matching steel wheels and a white roof. Powered by an LC9 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, the build does have a more modern roof rack with an LED light bar attached. Its heritage style grille is complemented by a more simple and classic style bumper complete with a winch. Inside, the build is fairly unique with Rugata Brown and Super-soft black leathers in a dual-toned quilted stitch and Nardi Wood steering wheel, brought together by its internal roll cage.
