Custom color and, well, customization, in general, is our main specialty here at E.C.D. We restore British classics built as utility vehicles over 25 years ago, right here in the U.S., to be driven as fully functioning daily drivers. The vehicles we produce can be extremely modern or an ode to the more traditional and classic look of the Land Rover Defender. When it comes to the huge contrast in build styles, colors play a huge role in the theme of the individual truck.
Modern colors tend to be a variation of black, grey, or white in either an eggshell or gloss finish for a 21st-century look that brings the classics into modern times. Inside these vehicles, we often see a similar all-black leather interior with a contemporary styled diamond stitch and updated finishes from the steering wheel to the gear shifter. This more monochrome build color follows throughout the build’s internal and external features and accessories. While these builds are a stunningly modern take on the rugged classic we love, they act as an extension to the client’s current lifestyle or car collection.
Other modern colors follow a theme that perhaps fits the client’s current collection of cool vehicles. So far, we’ve had a range of custom Defenders built to match a client’s Mclaren, Rolls-Royce Phantom, and even an Aston Martin themed build with an all-white exterior and white and blue interior. This style of build matching is a new trend we love to see as the two vehicles represent two different styles and two different eras, while both being fully capable performance vehicles that are daily drivers.
More traditional styled Land Rover Defenders tend to be a bit more colorful, following classic Land Rover colors with warm-toned interiors. Some of the most popular colors amongst our more classic Defender builds include Grasmere Green, British Racing Green, Keswick Green, Arles Blue, or even a two-toned Autobiography split coloring. These builds are also most likely to have white roofs and white or color-matched steel wheels that ring true to the traditional look of the Land Rover Defender. Inside, features such as a nostalgic wood steering wheel, straight stitching, and sometimes even a TD5 (original Defender) style dashboard are a part of the build’s gorgeous features.
With plenty of options and a blend of modern and classic to choose from, the possibilities for our custom builds are truly endless. Get in touch to start your custom Land Rover Defender build, [email protected].
